Not every Vermont town does Memorial Day the same way. Woodstock does it with the particular civic sincerity that comes from a place that has been holding its parade on the Village Green for generations: veterans leading the procession, fire departments behind them, school groups, and the whole of the village turning out along the elm-lined streets to watch. Memorial Day weekend in Woodstock is worth planning around, and Sunday Drive at 442 Woodstock Road is your Vermont-grown cannabis stop for the whole stretch of it.

Things to Do Around Woodstock Over the Long Weekend

Odyssey Events brings the joy of cooking to life in a Green Mountain setting, where guests learn hands-on from a master chef in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re looking to pick up new skills, bond with family, or simply make new friends over a shared meal, there’s something here for everyone. Come for the cooking, stay for the memories (and of course, the food)!

If you want to start your time off a week early, from May 15–17, Woodstock comes alive with the Bookstock Festival of Words, featuring award-winning authors, distinguished poets, Master Classes, a beloved Used Book Sale, an expanded children’s program, the Bookstock Market, and the UNBOUND 14 Book Arts exhibit at Artistree. Best of all, thanks to the generosity of sponsors and donors, the entire festival is free to attend. Don’t miss this celebrated literary gathering just before the Memorial Day weekend.

Woodstock Town Hall Theatre on The Green hosts performances, educational programs, and community events.

Quechee Gorge at Route 4 in Quechee, about 15 to 20 minutes west of Woodstock, is Vermont’s most dramatic natural feature. The 165-foot gorge is accessible from the bridge on Route 4 or via a trail on either rim.

Echo Market is a thoughtfully curated shop at 6 Central Street in Woodstock, Vermont, where every item is carefully selected, championing small makers, women-owned brands, and companies committed to ethical and regenerative practices. Browse a collection that reflects genuine values without sacrificing style or quality. It’s shopping that feels as good as it looks.

Billings Farm & Museum at 69 Old River Road in Woodstock is a working farm and agricultural heritage site with seasonal programming and genuine Vermont agricultural character. May is one of the better months to visit. The farm is in full spring operation and in peak season.

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, directly adjacent to Billings Farm, offers carriage-road trails through a managed forest and valley views. The combination of the two sites makes for an easy full morning.

The village center’s shops, cafés, and the Woodstock Farmers’ Market (the flagship store has been serving the Woodstock community for over 30 years) all contribute to the kind of Saturday that goes well without much planning.
