4th Of July Around Woodstock

Woodstock, Vermont, is marking America’s 250th birthday with five days of celebration running July 1 through 5, 2026! The festivities pack in live music, a 5K run/walk, a bike parade, family activities, local markets, fireworks, and plenty more.

The Semiquincentennial marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, and Woodstock is the perfect place to celebrate. This year, the fireworks will be the punctuation on a quarter of a millennium of history.

Events in and Around Woodstock This Independence Day

Over the course of the five-day celebration, you’ll find plenty of July 4th events in Woodstock to keep you entertained. Some of the highlights include:

1. Summer Festival Tour: America 250 

When: Wednesday, July 1

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is taking its tour on the road across the Green Mountain State, with a stop at Saskadena Six Ski Area in South Pomfret on July 1. 

The program is packed with beloved American classics and crowd-pleasers, including Morton Gould’s American Salute, Aaron Copland’s Hoe-Down from Rodeo, and selections from John Williams and John Philip Sousa. 

Before the main event, the VSO’s Musical Petting Zoo gives audiences of all ages a chance to get up close with orchestral instruments. Gates open at 5:30 PM for picnicking ahead of a 7:30 PM curtain!

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or folding chairs, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, and a full picnic spread. Outside food and drinks, including wine, cheese, and pizza are all welcome, and an ice cream vendor will be on-site. A flashlight is handy for finding your way back to the car after dark, and sun umbrellas are welcome until the concert begins. If weather forces a change of venue, the rain site is Woodstock High School in Woodstock. Smoking and pets other than service animals are not permitted at VSO events.

2. Fourth on the Farm at Billings Farm

When: Saturday, July 4

Billings Farm & Museum hosts its old-fashioned Fourth on the Farm from 10 AM to 5 PM. At the event, you can expect to find horse-drawn wagon rides, ice cream making, and a historic baseball game played by 1860 rules at 2 PM.

3. Fourth of July Fireworks in Woodstock

When: Sunday, July 5

Woodstock Union High School is hosting a Fourth of July weekend celebration in honor of America’s 250th anniversary, capped off with a fireworks show. Families can look forward to games, face painting, a bouncy house, fairy hair, balloon fun, live music, and visits with fire, police, and rescue vehicles, plus a flag ceremony. 

Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site, or guests are welcome to bring their own picnic spread. Grounds open at 4:30 PM with a $10 per vehicle parking fee.
